These funds stem from dormant accounts, unpaid wages, and other forgotten financial assets.

How to Check for Unclaimed Funds

It's surprisingly easy to find out if you have unclaimed money.

The New York State Comptroller's website offers a free online tool for residents to search for any funds they may be entitled to.

Additionally, the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) provides a national database to search for lost or forgotten assets across the United States.

Why So Much Money Goes Unclaimed

Unclaimed funds accrue when individuals forget about financial assets such as bank accounts, uncashed checks, or security deposits.

Over time, these amounts are turned over to the state, but many people remain unaware they are owed money.

Check if you're one of them by visiting the official New York Comptroller’s unclaimed funds portal.

Could You Be Owed Money?

Claiming unclaimed funds is free, and the process is simple.
